Reed Switch Sensors

  • Reed switch sensors are general purpose position or movement sensors which are used in many different industries and applications. They are inherently reliable due to their simple construction and operation. The reed switch based sensor operates in the presence of a magnetic actuator. The non contact operation of these sensors make them suited to applications where misalignment or contamination from dust and solids are a concern. The switch may be operated through a non ferrous skin such as non magnetic stainless steel, plastic, aluminium and non ferrous castings etc. enabling the switch and its connections to be inside part of a housing or machine. Reed switch sensors may be operated from three sides.

Typical applications include, door and window monitoring, position sensing and control, stop go sensing, level control and indication, various automotive applications, data logging, environmental monitoring, alarm systems etc.

These general purpose reed switch sensors should not be used in or relied on in safety related applications.

  • Standard Heavy Duty Reed Switch Sensors

  • Heavy duty reed switch sensors, N/O3 339-746, C/O4 339-752, C/O4/R, C/O4RS
The standard heavy duty range are housed in robust zinc die castings and as standard have a 0.7 metre heavy duty cable. Longer cable variants are available.

The N/O3 is a normally open switch, the contacts close in the presence of the actuator magnet.

The C/O4 and C/O4/R both have a SPCO single pole change over switch, these contacts change over in the presence of the actuator magnet.

The standard actuator magnet for this switch range is the AM/5. The AM/9 or AM/10 may also be used if a greater operating distance is needed.

  • IP67 Heavy Duty Reed Switch Sensors

  • Heavy duty IP67 reed switch sensors, N/O2/S, C/O3/S, C/O4RS

The IP67 heavy duty range are housed in robust polycarbonate enclosures with a cable gland which are then fully potted. As standard there is 1 metre heavy duty cable, longer cable variants are available.

The N/O2/S is a normally open switch, the contacts close in the presence of the actuator magnet.

The C/O3/S and C/O4RS both have a SPCO single pole change over switch, these contacts change over in the presence of the actuator magnet.

The standard actuator magnet for this switch range is the AM9. The AM/10 may also be used if a greater operating distance is needed.

  • Miniature Reed Switch Sensors

  • Heavy Duty Miniature Reed Switch Sensors, N/O2/M, C/O3/M
The miniature heavy duty range are housed in robust zinc die castings and as standard have a 0.5 metre cable. Longer cable variants are available.

The N/O2/M is a normally open switch, the contacts close in the presence of the actuator magnet.

The C/O3/M is a SPCO single pole change over switch, these contacts change over in the presence of the actuator magnet.

The standard actuator magnet for this switch range is the AM/4. The AM/8 may also be used if a greater operating distance is needed.

  • IP65 Miniature Reed Switch Sensors

  • Miniature IP66 reed switch sensors, N/O2/MIP
The IP65 miniature heavy duty range are housed in robust zinc die castings and as standard have a 0.5 metre cable. Longer cable variants are available.

The N/O2/MIP is a normally open switch, the contact closes in the presence of the actuator magnet.

The C/O3/M is a SPCO single pole change over switch, the contacts change over in the presence of the actuator magnet.

The standard actuator magnet for this switch range is the AM/4. The AM/8 may also be used if a greater operating distance is needed.

  • Actuator Magnets

  • AM/4, AM/5, AM/8, AM/9 and AM/10 acutuator magnets, 339-768
The standard range of actuator magnets are designed to match the various switch ranges, although there is some functional interchangeability.

AM/4 and AM/8 actuators are designed for use with the miniature and IP66 range of switches.

AM/5 actuators are designed for use with the standard heavy duty range of switches.

AM/9 and AM/10 actuators are designed for use with the IP67 heavy duty range.
